Make Transgender Healthcare more accessible in NZ
The NZ Healthcare system provides medical care to all those who need it not matter their injury or diagnosis. Except for Transgender people.
Transgender Healthcare (Hormone Therapy and Gender-Affirming surgery) Is extremely difficult to access in New Zealand, despite it being a vital part in the health of Transgender people.
It has been found that many Transgender people have been unable to access gender-affirming surgery and Healthcare, including Hormone treatment (19%), chest reconstruction surgery (67%), voice therapy (50%), and feminizing genital surgery (49%).
To ensure the mental and physical health of Transgender people, we need to make their Healthcare far more accessible than it currently is.
